These angry eyes beset and besieged,
by numberless inhuman afflictions,
are dry of tears and can now but bleed.
Where from are these bitter visitations,
delivered with such careless regard,
contrived and cast upon the innocent?
The nature of life is agony a plenty,
awash in the dangers of natural evil,
existence has no need of man made hell.
And yet the course of manufactured ill,
unrestrained and rampant upon the world,
wounds the gentle and aids the wicked.
We are but a single spirit upon this Earth,
strong in unity and weak in division,
and survival will walk only with compassion.
In the remaining arc of human existence,
be It a billion or ten times a billion years,
will we weep or finally rejoice in human life?
